Instead of coming up with fiberglass bodies for existing vehicles, Delahaye USA is working on producing modern versions of certain classic designs in order to show what legendary designers would have been building today.
For example, the Delahaye will display a full-size version of the “Bella Figura” Bugnotti Coupe this fall. This Coupe was inspired by the 1937 Bugatti Type 57S, and was a tribute to Ettore Bugatti’s son, Jean. A 1/4-scale model of the project was shown at certain shows and concours recently. The full-scale carbon fiber body will be launched at Retro Auto Aug. 13-15, in Pebble Beach, during the annual classic car festivities in Northern California. Delahaye USA intends to sell a turnkey version of the coupe on a custom chassis with an alloy body for $450,000, while a clear-coated or painted carbon fiber version will be priced at around $250,000. There are also plans to create a targa-style roof and drophead version.
